Patty Contenta began her career in the ballroom dance industry almost 20 years ago but her love affair with dancing started long before that. As a teenager she discovered a passion for Jazz and soon found herself earning a one-year scholarship program at the Montreal Dance Factory. She went on to perfect her art at the prestigious Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal and became Dance Director for the National Youth Talent Association. At only seventeen years old it was already clear that a brilliant career was awaiting her when she and her youth group were offered to become the opening act for a Bachman-Turner Overdrive show in Parliament Hill on Canada Day 1988. Shortly after, Patty decided to get a taste of a different type of dance and waltzed her way into the ballroom industry. In 1990, as a dance teacher for a local dance school, it didn’t take very long for the worldrenowned Arthur Murray Dance Franchise to notice her and to offer her a career within their company. It only took a few years for Patty to become manager of a local franchise where she quickly brought the business to new heights. While running the school she also built an astonishing career as professional dance competitor with her partner Martin Dontigny. She and her partner went on to accumulate numerous accomplishments during their five-year stay in the world of dance competition. She retired from competition in 2003 as the Rising Star Canadian Champion of the prestigious La Classique du Quebec. Following her retirement from competition, she soon shifted her focus toward building a new dream for herself.
In 2004, Patty was asked to perform for the Montreal Jazz Festival and later that Summer went on to appear as a dance extra in the film The Aviator by Martin Scorsese. In September of that same year, she opened her very own Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Laval where she has since become the second largest Franchisee in Quebec.
Patty is founder of the Sensuality Secrets seminars and author of Sensuality Secrets, a book that coaches women on how to heighten their sensuality through the art of body language and dance. This has brought her to become a sought after speaker and radio guest all across North America.
She frequently serves as a judge in several reputable competitions around the world.
As a professional dancer, choreographer, judge and international travelling dance consultant for the world-renowned Arthur Murray Dance Franchise, she has transmitted her passion for dance to students around the world.
